Objective
When counting during play count all normal score combinations up to the stop at 31.
Rational
Make scoring during play more interesting.
Strategy
Count all combinations as valid no matter how many card played up to stopping at 31.
Should you continue the run with the chance your opponant will extend it further for a bigger score? This is especially true for low counting cards.
Example Play
Example play and scoring. The cards are shown as they are played.
- A
- A - 3
- A - 3 - 2 :scores 3 (run of 3)
- A - 3 - 2 - 3 :scores 8 (double run of 3)
- A - 3 - 2 - 3 - A :scores 16 (double - double run of 3 plus 2 pair)
- A - 3 - 2 - 3 - A - 4 :scores 20 (double - double run of 4 plus 2 pair)
- Note this is not a valid cribbage hand since it has 6 cards, but the run is continuing
- A - 3 - 2 - 3 - A - 4 - A :scores 30 (a triple - double run of 4 for 24, 2 pairs, and 2 for a count of 15
This continues until the run is broken or the stop at 31 is reached
