Hard Candy for Xmas
- 3 ¾ c. sugar
- 1 ½ c. light corn syrup
- 1 c. water
Stir over medium hear until sugar disolves.
Boil without stirring until 310°F.
Prepare an 18 x 24" Heavy Duty Aluminum foil sprinkled with powdered sugar.
When the candy is 310° add 1 tsp. flavoring oil and food coloring.
Mix well and pour immediately onto foil.
Sprinkle top with powdered sugar.
Consistency changes during cooling: syrup --> clay --> brittle (edges first)
When at clay stage score with a wheeled pizza cutter.
