Baked Spaghetti
The original recipe is based on one found in All Recipes. This is our version.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- 1 lb spaghetti
- 1 lb (2c) cottage cheese
- 2 lbs (32 oz) plain spaghetti sauce
- 2 lbs shredded mozzarella
- 2 eggs whisked
- 1/3 c grated Parmesan
- 5 T melted butter
Instructions
- Brown the burger and onion
- Add spices and spaghetti sauce.
- Cook spaghetti “almost done”
- blend the butter, whisked egg and Parmesan
- coat the spaghetti with the mixture
- Layer in greased 13x9 pan:
- half the noodle mixture, half the meat sauce mixture, half the cottage cheese, half the mozzarella
- repeat layers: rest of the noodle mixture, cottage cheese and meat sauce mixture, top with mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake 350 for 40 min.
- Uncover and bake another 20-25 min. until cheese slightly brown
Makes 8-12 servings.
Changes/additions:
- 2 T Minced garlic
- Cook with the meat and onion
- 1/2 - 1 cup mushrooms
- 1/2 cup peppers
The mushrooms and peppers can be cooked with the meat or mixed in with the meat mixture after cooked depending on how soft you like them
The above recipe barely fits in a 9x13 pan. With more ingredients split into two 8x8 pans.
